Math Work and Thanksgiving Feast November 30, 2014

In this month, November, the children have worked more advanced work.  The children especially were very happy with their great math work. They love working with difficult academic activities such as the teen board, the ten board, the square chains, addition and multiplication etc.

In the math area, we present numbers through ten, decimal system, teens, tens, skip counting, simple computations, 4 operations and fractions, etc.

” I am placing six spindles in the 6 compartment.”  X is working on spindle box, 0-9.

N is laying 10 little stones on number 10 with full concentration.

A is counting red disks matching on the numbers.                       ” I finished bead stairs 1-9 and am coloring beads on                                                                                                                                                       my papers.”

The directress is introducing teens and then the children associate teens number and quantities.

The children associate tens numbers and quantities.

Sm is matching amounts of beads with tens numbers.

” I can sort all the number families in 100 and put them in the board in sequence.”

” I am making a square and cube with my seven cube chain.” Jy is counting up to 729, counting by 9 with 9 cube chain.

He is tracing decimal numbers after his work, ‘1, 10, 100, 1000’.

The children are laying out big numbers 1 to 9000.

Jl and S are working simple addition with beads.

” Why don’t you bring 5,666 beads from the bank and make sum for 3425 + 5666. ” The boy and girl together getting sum for 4 digits addition.

” I know how to do subtraction.”                                                                    ” What is 7 sets of 5? ”

E is working on simple multiplication with red beads on the board and copies the products on her note book. A is dividing the skittles equally on the board with green beads.

19 She is working on 4 digits addition.

In this month, we discussed Thanksgiving and that we have many things for which to be thankful. We also learned how the pilgrims celebrated the first Thanksgiving with Native Americans. Also the children put together many Thanksgiving themed projects, expressing for what they are most thankful.  They also made pilgrim and native American hats and puppets and did turkey crafts.

On November 25, we had Thanksgiving feast.

We had the feast with all Dayspring families, moms. dads, grandpas and grandmas!!!

We are sharing food and having a very good time like native Americans and pilgrims.
