Our children are now well adjusted into the classroom. They follow classroom rules, understand more daily routine.
They are especially having a joyful time in the sensorial area. Sensorial work helps children to acquire clear, conscious, information and helps them be able to classify things and concepts in their environment.
Sensorial Exercises highlight an awareness of one’s environment through the senses bringing the children to have more sensorial awareness and appreciation and understanding. They learn to pay more attention to loudness and softness, matching, weight, temperature, size, shape, composition, texture, etc.
N is building a tower with pink cubes and X is building the stairs using visual discrimination of dimensions.
“I can put cylinders in the holes.” “I know how to construct these red rods in sequence.”
Nt is very satisfied finishing matching 11 colors. I and S are coloring 11 colors after learning to match colors.
” I can make secondary colors.” “I can match the sound this makes!”
Nc and J matched the corresponding triangles together and then moved to work with some other shapes.
They feel “rough” and “smooth” materials as they increase the tactile sense of their hands.
They learn and understand the many names of shapes provided in the geometric cabinets.
The late afternoon sessions for art, science, cooking projects, sports and game etc. for full-day children are going very well.
The children are printing leaves. “Look at my leaves!”
The children love afternoon projects. ” I am sailing to a new land with my boat ‘Santa Maria!'”
The school also offers special Spanish and music program in addition to the regular program. We started this special program October 2014.
The children love Spanish class. The teacher gives children live language with puppets and music and the children are so excited in the classroom.
The children like Orff-Music sessions every Wednesday. They have learned how to match pitches and bits of melody and put them together while singing and playing with the simple percussion instruments.
Now they have worked with pitches and melodies, so we put it all together singing and playing with simple percussion instruments.
Recorder class is open every Monday
The children can now play G, A, B pitches on their recorders. Their recorder playing is so beautiful.
